This letter is brought to you by Mejuri.
The joy of working for myself is that no two days are the same. Not even remotely. I’ll be taking you along on a Thursday in my life, last Thursday, to be exact, with timestamps and real life moments. Of course, it wouldn’t be Long Live if we didn’t talk about outfits, and last Thursday’s was tied together with pieces from Mejuri.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s start this very real day in the life of Erika Veurink.
6:31a Wake Up
Alarm goes off and my internal dialogue is “How quickly can I make a cup of tea?” After this is secured, I journal, write a little on creative projects, and then, finally, check what’s been brewing in my inbox since the night before.
8:04a Work Out
By this point, my husband has woken up and made me a decaf cappuccino with cinnamon on it. Darling guy! I leave this alone while I work up the enthusiasm to hit the gym aka roll out my yoga mat in my bedroom. Recently, I’ve been very into Sculpt Society, which is quick and dirty. I’ll end with a meditation.
9:01a Shower + Post Content
I’ll enjoy that cappuccino, right after a quick shower and writing an overly specific to-do list for the day ahead. I’m sure it’s clear by now I’m a pretty regimented person. Getting dressed, accessories and all, is a big part of starting my day if I’m working from home. I slip on my wedding rings, watch, and whatever the day’s jewelry of choice happens to be. I usually decide what I’m going to wear based on the rest of my outfit. But what I love about Mejuri pieces is that they play perfectly with all the pieces in my collection. I’m also bullish on mixing metals, so keeping a balance of silver and gold is always on my mind.
10:00a Therapy
Like clockwork, Thursdays are for therapy. I like being properly dressed, even though my therapist has certainly seen her fair share of me in pajamas.
11:11a Publish Substack
My letters go out at noon on Tuesday and Thursday at noon so I’ll use this time to tidy up links and check emails. Nothing groundbreaking.
12:57p Lunch
Where did time go? More importantly, what’s for lunch? I’ll scrounge around, and yes, that’s the right verb, and pull together little bits from dishes my husband has prepped for me the week before. Usually I try to break to read here, too.
1:31p Walk
I’m practically useless after lunch so my options are to take a walk and call a friend or take a nap. Both, very solid uses of time. Today, I went for a lap around Fort Greene Park and called my best friend to fill her in on a very exciting project we’re working on that will involve all of you. Stay tuned.
2:37p Matcha + Meetings
Where did time go, pt. 2? I whip up a quick matcha before settling in for meetings and check my inbox again. I’m meeting with a few brands I’m consulting on and with my manager, Evan. That call is always my favorite.
5:12p Unofficial End of the Work Day
There’s no clear beginning or end to my days when work and play overlap the way they do for me. I’ll take this time to touch up my very simple make-up, tidy from the day, and pack an evening bag. It’s also a chance to layer on more accessories. Stacks make me feel dressed up, even if I’m in jeans. Even if I don’t have time to redo my hair to reapply mascara, wearing a few extra rings makes me feel just the right amount of polished. And the Pavé Diamond Small Hoops are mystically perfect for daytime and evening, making this getting ready process even simpler.
6:04p Roz Event
First stop: saying “hi” to my friends at Roz and celebrating their Sephora launch. I love Nine Orchard and Mara, so this event is a home run in my book. I can only stay for a minute because the big event of the day is coming up.
6:31p Hosting an Event with Casetify x Richard Scarry
Dreams come true, kids. Agreeing to this was the easiest yes in my book. I was raised on Richard Scarry and love GEM Home. Here I am getting things all set up before guests arrive.
9:12p Event Wraps + Lauren’s Opening
After saying my goodbyes and thank yous, I pop into a car to head to my friend Lauren Edelstein’s show before it wraps. She’s so talented. I love running into other friends, too.
10:31p Collapse Into Bed
Stack, off. Skincare, on. And laptop slammed shut until it all starts over tomorrow morning. I might not know exactly what to expect every day, but a jewelry stack makes me feel like I can take on anything.
Here’s my exact Mejuri stack:

I’d love to add the pave diamond slim signet to my collection! Such a versatile piece.
A lovely day-in-the-life. I too enjoy cinnamon or cardamom in my morning coffee! The heirloom ring in honey quartz has always seemed like the epitome of glamour to me.
