Voyeurism and secondhand shopping might just be my kryptonite. It’s not enough for me to know you bought that insane Gucci dress preloved. I want to hear about the months you spent tracking it down, the budget you set, and the client deal that ultimately convinced you to make an offer.

It’s why I love eBay so much. I’ve been shopping on the site since 2015-ish. Looking back at purchases feels like leafing through a diary. It’s a good reminder of what these objects represented to me upon ordering and how (if) they function in my life at present.

So here’s an entire year of my life—28, married, living in Brooklyn in a one-bedroom apartment, working for myself—through the lens of my eBay account.
