I’m one of those people who has an amorphous job. Really, I’m a writer and a founder, but under the umbrella of those two titles falls a plethora of ways I engage with work. And even though it seems like everyone you know and their cousin is “freelance,” I stopped using that word to describe my work a long time ago.
There’s a thread between every single project I engage in, which I’ll outline below. The point isn’t to be pointlessly candid, but to inspire you to think of your own career as a portfolio of moving parts. When I was a nanny, three years ago, I dreamed of having a career that belonged to me. So after some full time roles, lots of chased invoices, and some big leaps, that’s exactly what I have.
