“How do you do all of this?” I get some variation of this question all the time. While I used to see it as a tiny badge of honor—so busy! wow!—I’m taking more time to interrogate what all this means. With revisions on my romance novel due, I keep finding ways to prioritize other work instead of the un-glam, concentrated effort of reshaping my first draft.
On a podcast I secretly listen to, Ryan Holiday mentioned about this antidote during a conversation about saying no. “As soon as you become a successful comedian, they try to make you an actor.” Maybe a more apropos version of this is brand marketer or start up consultant.
