Remember last week when I was like, “Oh, this shirt looks like Bode, but it’s not!” Well, this week, I’m pleased to present my first ever Bode shirt. Not a vintage imitation! Not borrowed from a weird art director who I went out with twice only to run into four times in Dimes Square! No. My very own perfect piece of Bode history. And I bought it for a reason.
That reason, not to be coy, is that I have a literary agent. I know the lit agent to Supreme collab button up pipeline isn’t traditional, per say, but I wanted something that represented the thousands of hours and pages that led me here. I wanted a piece that felt indulgent, celebratory, and totally me.
As you know, Bode is reworking my wedding outfit, and the brand’s been a favorite of mine for years. The secondhand market is very small, especially on sites like TheRealReal and eBay. So I took to every hypebeasts’ favorite outlet: Grailed.
I don’t condone making purchases tied to feeling all of the time. But sometimes, it feels great. I’m very proud of myself! I’m terrified at the mountain of work between this girl and a book, but I’m one step closer. Being a writer is a strange, lovely thing—just like this embroidered Supreme x Bode linen shirt (?) Sorry, that was so Carrie Bradshaw. Celebrate yourself and the life you’re building. I’m proud of you.
Archived Outfit
I mean, really, this outfit. I won’t waste my breath on why it’s so incredibly divine. Instead, let’s find you some lookalikes, shall we?
Get into athletic short summer! These are tiny and $14.
Might as well throw out your denim shorts and replace them with this corduroy pair!
Sometimes I wonder why I don’t just buy these myself. A $65 vintage quilt robe?
You have to click through to see the amazing design on the back of this $48 jacket.
Honorable Mentions
More books! Also, did you know these links are connected to my Bookshop? The very humble kickback I receive makes this newsletter worth its weight in gold. Thank you.
The Cactus League—I dated a baseball player in high school, but that’s about the extent of my affiliation with the sport. This novel had me hooked early. Pre-season WAG drama? I think yes.
Highway Blue—If Bonnie and Clyde wrote a novel under 200 pages, this would be it. This book had me itching for a road trip, but not for the scenic views. It’s dark, fast-paced, and ideal for a rainy afternoon.
Thin Places—This is the kind of book you can pack for a mini vacation without the fear of getting sick of one writer’s POV. Jordan Kisner explores topics across multiple landscapes. Ex-evangelicals, there’s lots there for you.
My little sister turned me on to this podcast, and this episode particularly. Are you listening to any podcasts or audiobooks you’re obsessed with? Write me.
For curious minds, these are my glasses + they’re under $10. There’s a glasses-themed Long Live in the not so distant future.
Last announcement! Next week is Long Live’s first guest. I’m so excited to share other people’s wardrobes with you all. What’s better?
Thank you so much for reading. This week, I wrote about gel manicures. See you next Thursday! x
