I’m not sure how the tradition started. It was two years ago. The holidays were quiet and I was feeling antsy. So I started writing.
As a kid, I loved Mad Libs and American Girl quizzes. There’s something so nostalgic about interacting with prompts. And as a deeply right brain thinker, I love that there’s no right or wrong answer. Prompts are open-ended.
And since I’m as open-ended and prone to evolution (free newsletter, no boss, etc), this year’s prompts are changing a little bit, too. Nothing massive. First of all, I’m sending them to you, dear Long Live readers, as a thank you for a brilliant year of community.
I started this prompt practice right before I launched this substack. Two years later, it’s a space of simple joy. I love that we can all come to Long Live to exhale, dream about clothes, dig into the stories they carry. Sounds trite, but I’m genuinely touched you invite my unproofed ramblings into your inbox every other week.
This year, I’m channeling two words, and I’d invite you to do the same. Mine are refinement and abundance. Off the bat, they feel contradictory, but to me, they feel in perfect balance. I want to say no to more so that my yeses can be full-body.
Here are the prompts in a downloadable PDF. I can’t wait to see how you fill yours out, though, these prompts can feel a bit personal, so don’t feel like you have to share.
There’s something so cathartic about participating in a corporate activity. I feel so grateful for this community and hopeful for our year ahead ✨
