If you are receiving this email with zero context and have no idea who I am or what Long Live is, that’s ok. Your partner has forwarded this list of gift ideas to you in an attempt to help you out. Accept their help. But please, even if you buy every suggested gift of this list, for the love of God, do NOT forget to handwrite a note. It’s Valentine’s Day. There are no exceptions.
So back to regularly scheduled programming. Do we care about Valentine’s Day? It’s a chance to reflect on the love we share—with ourselves and others—and it’s a celebration in the bleak winter months. I think it’s chic to embrace the holiday. Wearing red is out of my color palette, but I’ll be carrying my little Mark Cross in honor.
As for gifts, I find it to be a very less-is-more moment. Throw out your cellophane-wrapped baskets. A last-minute CVS run is off the table. Take the time a few weeks in advance to pick out something your partner/friend/self will cherish.
This bonus Long Live is a collection of gift ideas I scribbled in my notebook before bed on Sunday. They vary in price and message, so I’m going to be sorting them from PRACTICAL —> POETIC. Enjoy!
Practical
(To be clear, a truly practical gift has no place on a Valentine’s Day list. These are “practical” in the eyes of a total right brain.)
Set of pens ($11)—Admit it. There’s something divine about a new set and if your Valentine journals, this’ll be extra appreciated.
Doublesoul socks ($32) A favorite in the Veho household. Thick and hold up well in the wash. Sexyyyyy.
Cheerie Lane Valentine’s Day set ($24)—Love is a warm bowl of popcorn on a Tuesday night.
Cooking In Real Life ($32)—My friend Lidey makes the best recipes and her cookbook pre order would be a darling gift.
Papier stationery ($66)—Design something they’ll love to use. Papier makes it easy to find something for everybody.
Matouk monogrammed towels ($75)—Practical, but so thoughtful.
Lululemon All Yours t-shirt ($58)—It’s a lot to spend on a t-shirt for yourself, until you realize I have three and will never go back.
Homecourt candle ($65)—Everyone is sleeping on the Homecourt candles.
Leatherology notebook cover ($95)—Take notes in meetings or leave love notes on your way out the door. Bonus: it’s refillable.
Leaf Razor ($84)—Not to typecast, but if your Valentine’s a man, maybe upgrade his razor?
Rinka Bowl ($28-$110)—Chic little way to say you’re thinking of someone. Plus, everyone needs more bowls.
Comme Si silk boxers ($200)—Lingerie with a life outside of the bedroom. I wear mine with a big wool sweater.
Dorsey Crawford Asscher Cut earrings ($220)—Picturing with a big blazer and t-shirt.
La Ligne Marina sweater ($225)—Sweaters are very much a love language.
BEN The You Vault ($3,600)—Good to dream, both you and your Valentine.
Bender ($18)—One of my favorite poetry collections, for good measure.
