I just love Bode. Who doesn’t? For the uninitiated, it’s Emily Adams Bode Aujla’s brand started in 2016 with one-of-a-kind pieces. Think: tailor-made workwear with sentimental details.

Bode boxers from my wedding dress <3

The brand launched women’s specific clothing last year, which is great, but the menswear has always been my favorite. I bought my first Bode piece from Grailed in 2022 when I found my first agent. I spent $345 and the agent turned out to be a dud. Then I bought a blue long sleeve Bode shirt from Noihsaf in 2023 for $250. Before those two, I worked with the Bode Tailor Shop to transform my wedding dress and turn the remnants into boxers.

Trusting the process with the best in the biz

Cool, amazing brand, incredible story, but what does this have to do with you, dear reader? Well, Bode is very expensive new—like $5,000 for a jacket expensive. Other pieces are a little more “affordable” but instead of suggesting you whip out your credit card for some good old Americana-inspired pieces, I thought I’d go straight to the source.

The following is a curation of (mostly) jackets that feel like they could be hanging in the Bode store downtown today. Including just secondhand Bode feels too easy, and realistically, costs way more than $200. I’ll include notes on what makes it feel “Bode” to me so you can carry these keywords with you on your own searches—online or IRL. And hot tip re: The Bode Tailor shop coming right up. Oh! I’m giving away a vintage Mulberry bag to a paid sub, too.
