I love all of this! Came here to say you’re 100% correct on the Docs — I tell people to buy them second hand, already broken in, and always vintage because there’s a higher chance they were made in the UK vs. China with the older pairs!

This was such a delightful dispatch—like a voice note from your most fashionable friend while she walks through Madrid. 🧃

Immediately adding “wide-ish jeans + Salomons” to my spring mood board. Also feeling deeply seen by the sling bag envy. And the cropped fleece vests? Plot twist of the season. Thank you for scouting, styling, and sourcing so we don’t have to guess.

P.S. Still chuckling at “camp counselor in the best way.” Iconic.

Wait! I just bought a vest with a horse design on it second hand in Boston a few weeks ago! I was so excited by it haha! Can’t wait to wear it.

I'm going to Spain next month so nice to have a little primer! Loved the Hoff sneakers and the green Rain jacket is everything! Do you have any store recs for Madrid?

Thank you, so nice of you! I'll be in Madrid for a few days then Jávea and Dénia. I'm mainly interested in clothes and shoes particularly things I can't get in NYC or are specific to Spain. Last time I was in Madrid I went to Antigua Casa Crespo for espadrilles and loved it, Do you know it? Are there other espadrilles stores you like? And last are there any shops you could recommend in Jávea?

I think you will love Jávea, you can find great espadrilles and 'capazos' over there (mostly in local shops).

In Madrid, you should visit de aforementioned Hoss, eseOese, Malababa, Bimba y Lola, but also you can try:

- Eturiel, Cocol, La Oficial Cerámica, González&González and Morueco Cerámicas for home decor.

- Andrés Gallardo (bags and porcelain jewelry).

- Zubi with beautiful bags and clothes.

- Sézane (it is a french brand but oh so nice)

- WOW Concept with a mix of brands (also, El Corte Inglés Castellana, always the best of the best)

- Ecoalf with recicled materials.

- Blue Banana, the cool brand loved by young people.

- Shoes brands: there are so many, spanish shoes are top quality (you can also find some in Jávea since they manufacture them in Elda, close by): The Jimenas, Castañer (the best espadrilles), Flabelus, Magrit, Mascaró & Pretty Ballerinas, Hispanitas, Camper, Gioseppo, Martinelli, Mint & Rose, Pedro Miralles...

- Sfera (the El Corte Inglés own Zara).

- Real Fábrica Española, El Moderno and peSeta for home decor and absolute beautiful gifts.

- Los artistas del barrio with unique street art to bring yourself home.

- Two lovely clothing brands: Cristina Piña and The Playa & Co.

Hope that was helpful!!

I love all of this. When I travel, I always carry a water bottle, but I always keep it inside my bag because otherwise it feels so clunky. Can you tell me how (if?) you carry a water bottle in such a small bag? This is a travel puzzle that I can't solve. Thank you!

Ok this is not an answer my naturopath would not approve of!! I carry a tiny glass one from the hotel usually and then make a point to buy a massive glass mineral water out during the day!

Thank you. That is a brilliant solution. (Also, I love what you are doing online and on social media. Just brilliant work. Your kind-heartedness shines through everything you write and share.)
