ALSO - an Eames desk chair. Was getting ready to drop like $3500 to get one because it was the only thing I wanted. Wound up finding it on FBMP for $200! The older woman was like “my husband worked in office furniture sales and had good taste”
Omg! Love this so much. Talking about secondhand furniture finds is my favorite thing ever!
My absolute best: a 1950s baker gorgeous walnut burlwood coffee table. $100 on FBMP and retailed for $5500 on 1st dibs. Baker was misspelled in the listing and the pictures were so bad but I knew it was special!
I want to know how it was misspelled 😆 my mom has Feistaware as a saved search on eBay in honor of her friend who collects Fiestaware. I before E, except after C!
So honored to be included and I hope no one is judging me for buying a 6-year discontinued stovetop for 4x the retail price. Erika, you are simply the best <3
Love this! My favorite find has got to be my round travertine dining table I cobbled together for a total of $500 from FB marketplace. One day I found a big travertine tabletop resting on a metal base. Decided to buy it and see if I could eventually find a matching travertine base to rest it on. Three months later, I found a base someone was using with a glass top. The best part is the stone colors match perfectly between the two pieces — I don't think either seller realized the stone was travertine which is why I was able to get the pieces for so cheap.
LOVED this! I think 95% of my home are items acquired secondhand or passed down to me and I'm obsessed with reading about everyone else's treasures.
My prized secondhand home goods are two midcentury velvet couches: one golden yellow (FB marketplace) and one covered in orange and gold florals (vintage store in Portland), each in mint condition and for under $400.
I’ve recently started shopping secondhand for my home—the hunt has been so much fun! This fall, I finished a plate wall in our dining nook and it makes me smile every time I think about the process of choosing each plate.

As someone who is never not decorating her apartment, this speaks to me! Nothing adds more character than secondhand pieces 👏
