Obsessed! I want to read 100 of these. Truly the very best finds are usually some random, inexpensive (relatively) item that just ends up being a hero.
I need everyone to know that those vintage buckle LL Bean boots are so wildly cute in real life but if the soles are worn slick...... THEY ARE DEADLY! I have slipped and fallen in mine so many times. To the point I really don't wear them any longer. *sigh*
Okay, I'll grant that I'm not known for my fashion sense. But five years feels short to me, definitely not "the long haul." Very few items in my closet are less than five years old, and I have more than a few that I've worn for ten or more, and some of those weren't new to me. I'd love to see an installment in this series that asks about a 10- or 15-year-old piece (or 20?), or even what the oldest regularly worn piece is. See how long people can wear their favorite clothing! Normalize longevity!
Haha, fair enough! I'm 36, which sometimes surprises me. It makes me realize how truly long I've worn some clothing. I definitely have clothes from college in my closet, though I think I've retired everything from high school. (Although I regret the day I took my forest green J. Crew henley to Goodwill. Gah, to wear that shirt again!)
Another fun list! Those Bean boots were calling to me until I remembered my Helly Hansen arctic boots I’ve had on winter standby since 2013. 😲 I bought them in college when Denver was expecting a blizzard and they saved the day. They’ve mostly been in storage over the years while I traveled or lived in places without snow, but now that I’m back in the Midwest, how could I ever think of replacing them?! They’re so tall and so cozy and I never slip or worry about coming home with damp feet.
I just recently set up Indyx, so it has sent me down the rabbit hole of when I bought certain pieces, and it’s a revelation! I’m amazed how long I have owned certain pieces, and how valuable they have been, at whatever price.
I love this series! It's so fun getting a window into someone via their long lived (haha) items. Personally, I love asking people what their oldest item of clothing is-- always a cool discussion.
Love Me+Em - I’ve been shopping there for the last 3+ years - love following Trinny Woodall for all the good UK/EU brands that I would never know about.

I hear this!! I’m 28 so that’s a big reason why I started with 5 years :)
