I've always considered myself a "good" shopper. Meaning, I generally buy within my means, shop sales, etc. But I have to tell you (and I'll let these other writers know too) that your substack (plus a few others, Harry Styles, Rabbit Fur Coat, Tiffanie Darke, 5 Things, etc) has complete changed the way I shop. I had 3 months of a no-buy (super easy for me in spring/summer bc who cares). Made a wish list of 5-10 new things for fall/winter and 100% stopped buying fast fashion or synthetic garments. When I shop, I shop eBay, TRR or thrift shops. "New" suede jacket? eBay! "New" Prada sweaters? TRR! Anyhow, I just want to let you know that you've made a difference!
LOVED! If you do it again, I volunteer! Granted I will have to check receipts bc menopause has robbed me of my ability to recall whether something is 5 years old but I WILL DO IT! What a delight. XOXOXO
I love everything!!! I volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul thrift store in Lake Havasu City, AZ. for several years and got a beautiful Coach purse for $5
I feel like the key issue is not how much it cost, or how long you've had it, but how many times you've worn it and what the cost-per-wear is. I have some items that didn't cost very much and I've had them for years, but I hardly ever wear them, so the cost-per-wear is high.
Love this!! Made me think about my own closet. My item is a sweater given to me secondhand from a friend in high school (10+ years ago) that I still wear all the time and always get compliments on!!
This is a great insight into many different fashion treasures! I was an exchange student in Japan in 1987-88. My host Mom’s love language was buying me clothes. I still wear them today, from cardigan sweaters with ribbon details on the pockets to leather ankle boots. Those Japanese clothes, she’s, and purses are the highest quality of anything I’ve owned—37 years and still going strong! 😍
delighted to be included in this! I've made it this long without a Uniqlo Heat Tech turtleneck but Anna Newton just singlehandedly convinced me I need one...
I have a 20+ year old ralph lauren pink and white striped oxford (maybe even from the RL outlet?). It's perfect, I even brought it to Vientam to get copies made.
This is a great feature, definitely do more!

I have a black Club Monaco dress that I bought in 1996! and I still wear it!
ok I love that! I was born in 1996 AND worked at Club Monaco in college <3
Haha love that I bought it the year you were born. And love Club Monaco's style. I wonder if their clothes would last as long today.
