I’ve been leaning into uniform dressing the past few years and it serves me so well. The “base” that always feels me is jeans and black or white tee. I’ll zhuzh up with jewellery or lipstick, but my base uniform recipe always makes me feel confident and comfy.
Picturing what Future Me is wearing is so simple but so transformational. I can’t believe I’ve never done it before! Thank you for sharing this exercise.
My “feels like me” outfit is an oversized striped button down, first few buttons open and exposing gold necklaces and charms collected over the years. The top layer is either a chunky grandpa cardigan or a girlfriend blazer. Straight, slim jeans that fit like a dream. Vintage penny loafers. Vintage Cartier watch. Vintage handbag with nary a logo.
Loving culottes!! I remember wearing a denim pair i loved in the 70,s when i was about 14! My new ones are from Deija Studios in a beautiful soft navy wool fabric. They look great with a button shirt and my Taekwondo Adidas shoes and my other obsession-socks!
Regarding outfit to copy. I’ve been doing the same thing. I use shuffles to recreate them using items in my closet. I create collages with my clothes to match the outfits I’ve found on Pinterest or instagram that I love. Just having that album on shuffles allows me to pick an outfit easily without having a meltdown in my closet haha. So I totally agree with your take.
Feels like me: floaty leopard midi skirt, black wrap sweater, black patent loafers and a vintage black leather jacket. I love mixing textures and femme/masc pieces.
an outfit that feels like me is dark wash bootcut or straightleg jean, a graphic tee, navy champion reverse weave sweatshirt OR my grey cashmere turtleneck with my j crew loafers (and some funky high socks) + my gray birkinified medium longchamp. maybe a fun hat too- like my light green Beurre Sale high snobiety baseball hat
Love this! I’ve been working towards “owning” my closest and making it feel more like me and this year I felt like the practice really started to pay off!!
An outfit that feels like me: blue&white button down, pleated silver skirt, black loafers & a grey sweater over the shoulder. Feels relaxed, put together, classic & feminine 💓
Saving pics of outfits to copy is a great idea… and to kick start, I bought the Getty hat 🧢 Of course, I bought it just a day or two before the fires started, and got super emotional when it arrived! I love LA and the Getty, so now I’m wearing it to show my love ❤️
Might seem like a silly question but: are there any non-obvious (Pinterest, IG) places that you get outfit inspo? I feel like I’m always screenshotting but was wondering if there are other places I don’t know about
I feel like me wearing my fringed black jacket. I used to save it for special occasions but now it’s my anytime jam! Younger me would be proud. Fringe in the wind makes me feel confident!
A biker jacket at times makes me feel like me... I am not at a place where I have loads of clothes to create outfits and judge if one is me or not, I wish I could afford just swapping through clothes and learning which silhouette works the best or which fabric or shape? I have tried clothes in a trial room and somehow I don't get a clearer picture because of how tiny those rooms can be or bright? Too bright. I am still liking pieces here and there and coming up with some fit that looks all put together on me is till a daunting task. Layering is tough too. :(

Great pair of jeans, striped Breton shirt, brown leather belt and cashmere sweater and navy blazer. Gold link necklace, small gold hoops.
