Loved this despite it making me feel mega old! That first photo was from a Tommy Hilfiger fashion show I worked on! It kicked off their "Prep World" tour with the legendary Lisa Birnbach (who's # I appear to still have saved in my phone???).
This was great and made me feel incredibly old lol. As an elder (really, the eldest) millennial I smugly thought I was keeping up with trends by tossing all my skinny jeans and statement necklaces years ago… but to my dismay I am now realizing I continue to wear stripes and chambray on the regular. Can’t escape your roots I guess 😆
The RL Rugby store on Newbury St in Boston circa 2008 was iconic. Truly, the level of world-building in that store would be so enviable for brands today.
I’m 62 and was going to say the same. In the 80’s I wore my father’s old Lacoste polos. And I’ve never seen an Oxford shoe I didn’t love. White suede bucks, monk straps, doc martens. I did unload a bunch of a-line and pleated skirts when I no longer needed to go to an office but I have a drawer filled with striped T’s and marinières. There’s an adage that says when styles come back, if you wore them once you shouldn’t wear them when the style comes back. But what if you never stopped wearing them? (And now I want new white bucks. I out grew the Lacoste’s ages ago.)

Jenna Lyons 4-ever! You read the Kingdom of Prep, yes?
Yes!! So good
I was very into Lindsay Lohan’s style at this time and have her CD I purchased from Borders to prove it 🫣
very relatable tbh

I mean, if you're going to read Hemingway, especially as a teenager, I say Moveable Feast is by far the best option!
(Says the woman whose copy of Shakespeare and Company dates back to high school.)
TRUE!
I'm 73 and still wearing my Sperrys and striped bretons on a regular basis. Prep of any era is the best!

I still have my giant gold monogrammed necklace that felt like THE thing to have in 2011. :-)
As a former school uniform gal, the RL Rugby line was IT for me! Could not own enough oversized rugby shits
Such nostalgia and fun during this time!! Can’t wait for more color and fun in fashion!
