Highly endorsing Articles of Interest for a deep dive on this! Also is the highlight of my career doing a whole series of events with Lisa Bernbach and Tommy Hilfiger in 2010? maybe…
Thanks for your take on preppy style! My parents gave me a gold signet ring as a high school graduation present in 1990. I should wear it more often. I went to a private high school in the Pacific Northwest that adopted East Coast prep as the norm. Lots of Izod shirts, Sperry topsiders, penny loafers, and madras shorts. I enjoyed reading your take on this style. Thanks!
I just started listening to that Articles of Interest series yesterday, so this is very timely and I fully endorse a letter about princess Diana's style!
You know how some things just work and others don’t? I feel weird when I try on boat shoes. Loafers are fine. But I’m more doc martens than speedy boat shoe. I also have that 1980 copy (I was 17 when it came out and was obsessed)

Omg I have a podcast she was on downloaded to listen to. That’s incredible
Love this- thanks! I'm 73 and my style has pretty much always been East coast prep. Wear my Sperry Angelfish almost every day.
Amazing!!
Okay I’m obsessed with the idea of a custom tartan skirt… Should I???
you do it and report back to the class??
My precise style! For women’s wear, Seven Sisters Style is a forever touchstone; I recently did a deep dive here on my Substack.
Love that the Bermuda bag made an appearance here!!

I love this. And hope you wear the ring all the time now!

Ok ok I have my work cut out for me
Prep never goes away ❤️

Another +1 for Articles of Interest!! It’s so much fashion history goodness, and Avery is so smart and genuinely curious about her subjects.
Have not ever considered myself a preppy dresser, but there’s something about Big Pants and vintage plaid blazers that’s really speaking to me…
I could relisten to everything she puts out
Take Ivy is forever fall inspo 💗💗💗
Such a great roundup Erika! 👏
I am sorry to say that you really missed the preppy
mark in some of your photos…I was an ivy league
prepster and we followed the handbook to “T”. But,
some of it you are just raised with…
Thanks for the comment! I was going for “modern” prep, which is inspired by the ivy prep of the past but not a perfect match!
So sweet, and in that case, job well done!
Fantastic finds. I like the signet rings and how understated they look.
thank you! I tried to pick a bunch of options but want to do more vintage jewelry round ups here!
This is great, wish we had as good Stacks for menswear which is criminally underdeveloped around here.
