You are speaking my love language. Just yesterday I brought home a 90’s J.Jill cotton sweater from the thrift! Earlier this month I found a 90’s Great Northwest sherpa style boxy fleece vest for $6. My absolute favorite coat is vintage LLBean chore coat with brown corduroy cuffs and color that I scored for $15!! AND last month I found a cropped velour 90’s Chicos bolero that I plan to wear to every single holiday party this season - $7. I live in vintage Eileen Fisher. It seems like we have the exact same personal style! With this in mind, I humbly offer two additions to your second hand search: London Fog coats (specifically in petites - I have a mac coat, trench, and suede number) and Rustler men’s jeans. I’ve never paid more than $8 for a pair of Rustler men’s jeans and I’ve found them easily at thrift stores time and time again. The pockets are always placed correctly (hard to find with vintage men’s jeans), the size 34 waist fits my 28-29 women’s waist perfect somehow (with room - the way I like my vintage) and I’ve found every single length and wash my heart could ever desire. Most recently a pair lovingly hemmed to my perfect ankle crop in never-been-washed rinse denim. Perfection.

Sharing your men’s to women’s size conversion is SO helpful! I always breeze past the men’s jeans at the thrift because I assume they’ll be too big! Currently a little bigger than I have been in many years so I’m going to take a look next time.

I started buying men’s Rustler jeans during covid for this exact reason! So glad my size conversion helps! My hips are roughly 40” so the straighter cut of the men’s jeans requires a larger waist size to fit comfortably, but I’ve converted many many friends to Rustlers haha!

We have an Eileen Fisher factory store in the town over (not sure why?) and I used to find myself there often. They put all kinds of stuff in that store - even factory samples that have the handwritten notes from the designers on the tag.

While everything you said was true, this is the way I was required to dress growing up in Fairfield County, CT…so now that I’m a crone I dress like Moira Rose in The Crows Have Eyes III 24/7.

the way this speaks to my midwestern roots….pretty sure my mom still calls in flannel shirt orders for Land’s End 😭

Love love this! How would you style the pink and red embroidery skirt? Trying to add more color to my wardrobe and think that could be fun!

I love it with a simple white tshirt and white sneakers. I might also wear it with a navy and white striped shirt!!

The first paragraph hit me with such sweet nostalgia- I want to turn back the clock but since that’s impossible we can dress like it! I am craving a stack of catalogs to flip through too.

YES! I love seeing that blue Anne Taylor tag. Some 90s Talbots can also look really contemporary. I have a lower rise pair of navy cotton pants by Talbots that were made in Japan and are fantastic.

So true Talbots is great

I could go on and on about all of this (I was there). I had an Ann Taylor eggplant linen suit (blazer, skirt, pants) that I can't even talk about now because as some point I decided to donate it. It's honestly painful. Hope it's still living its best life.

Borrowing my mom's Eddie Bauer fleece was life-changing, they don't make (affordable) PolarFleece like they used to; you will SWEAT. Actually I'm not sure they make it at all, I think it might be called something else now.

I love this! I borrow my best friend's mom's fleece from the 90s all the time and there's nothing like it
